TIEMANN Schutz-Systeme GmbH

We support Karlheinz Böhm's foundation Menschen für Menschen

Active social responsibility forms part of our personal and corporate philosophy.

We endeavour to communicate this view both in-house and to the outside world. Our commitment is intended to actively support the successful work of the foundation Menschen für Menschen.

We are of the opinion that Karlheinz Böhm in particular, with his tireless efforts on behalf of the people in Ethiopia over decades, deserves our support.

There is a stark contrast between living in Europe and living in Africa, to put it mildly. In Africa, eating regular meals and being able to go to school are luxuries that very few of the people in Africa can afford. Please lend your support as well, because each and every human being is entitled to a future, a future that includes food and drink and clothing and education, as well as basic medical care.

TIEMANN Schutz-Systeme supports the installation of pump wells to provide clean drinking water

Over the last 4 years, the support of TIEMANN Schutz-Systeme resulted in the construction of 4 pump wells.

In the year 2008, we will again provide support for the projects carried out by Menschen für Menschen. In total, the Karlheinz Böhm foundation has built 1,010 of these wells, and 43 irrigation facilities, providing assistance for tens of thousands of farming families. (see photographs on the right).

87 out of every 100 Ethiopians living in rural areas do not have access to clean drinking water. "Having access" here means that even three to four-hour walk will not bring them near a decent well, or a source of clean water.

Polluted drinking water breeds disease-causing agents for cholera, typhoid, hepatitis and diarrhoea. These diseases can often be fatal because of the lack of medical care.

By building fountains and well chambers near village, Menschen für Menschen provides families with hygienic living conditions. Women and young girls, in particular, benefit greatly from this assistance, as it is their traditional role to carry water to their families. All of these water projects tap sustainable reserves, that is, springs and water reservoirs that will be replenished by rainwater.
